NYS Firearms License/Permit Customer Feedback:
" It's true what they say "knowledge is power", after taking my pistol permit course with Iron Sight Firearms (Jeremy) I feel very confident and comfortable applying for my pistol permit. Especially, being a female he gave great tips and spoke about different situations and how to react correctly. I would highly recommend this class to anyone and any female that is interested in applying for their pistol permit. Jeremy answered all my questions and reassured us when needed. Thank you for everything, can't wait to take another class! -Gia "
"This experience was easily 10/10. I will say I am not the typical person who would be coming to learn about this stuff but I needed to plan for a future inheritance. I decided to make the best of the situation but I came in slightly frustrated that I would be spending an entire weekend and several hundred dollars on something that I didn't have any interest in. I started researching to get information and I was helped very quickly by Jeremy. He answered my emails promptly and let me know about class times that were available in the near future. I got lucky and was able to take both parts of the class over the same weekend. The first part was conducted in a classroom. We learned a lot about guns, laws surrounding firearms and played out scenarios. The class went into a lot of detail that this is a huge responsibility and taught about safety. The course material was professional, well planned and thought out. It was not boring and encouraged a lot of thought and participation. The next day was some more classroom discussion and also involved some hands on training with a real fire arm as well as basic target practice. It was great that the cost of the class covered everything you needed and you were able to take home your ear and eye protection. I appreciated that the course was strictly about the material being taught, no politics were brought up and the environment was welcoming to all. Jeremy was also very encouraging. During the hands on section he was patient and encouraged all to just get more practice to be more comfortable and adjust to using a firearm. To conclude the class we took a test and went over how to fill out the forms to apply for a state permit. The time and money are well spent with this class. I'd highly recommend this to anyone with interest in the topic." Jim M
"Overall it was a great class. As much as I hated having to give up a weekend for a state requirement, it was informational, and entertaining and makes for a safer armed populace. I truly found the instruction on deadly force and the "legal" explanations very helpful. The class was great and I could truly tell that you put in a lot of time and effort into making this a high quality experience and not just a "check in the box" for a license." Luq
"Thanks again for providing this class. Admittedly, this was the third time I have taken a NYS pistol permit course. I was the classic example of letting my certification expire and then when I took it the second time I was unable to turn the paperwork in before September 1st. Your class was by far the most informative, well formatted class and it was worth every cent. The first two pistol courses I took somewhere else lasted less than 2 hours and the instructors essentially were there to tell us how to fill out our paperwork. I really like that you went in depth with how all the components of different firearms operate, working in manufacturing I know that's what I wanted to learn was how the gun works. You can also tell that you are passionate about what you do, you answered everyone's questions in great detail and I appreciated the muffins and coffee you provided in both sessions. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and I will most likely be signing up for future courses through Iron Sight LLC. - Steve "
"Speaking as someone familiar with firearms but new to pistols this course was an immense value that covered far more than I had first anticipated. Included were numerous relevant scenarios, hands-on instruction of proper form, and thorough explanation of subjects from how to interpret the sight picture to managing common malfunctions. It's clear to me an enormous amount of thought and experience went into developing this as no base was left untouched. The big picture I got from my experience is that every aspect of handling a firearm is worth examination. Furthermore; many of the practices learned in this course have crossover with operating any firearm and I believe any applicant could stand to benefit by taking it. I very much appreciated how personable the experience was while maintaining a disciplined attitude towards the safety of all involved. Ultimately I'm confident in the lessons learned and am very eager to take more courses from Iron Sight in the near future." Joel C
"I took my permit class somewhere else. I brought my wife to Iron Sight for her permit class and i realized these classes are not all the same! This class was no comparison to the course I got else-ware. I can't believe a class like this isn't required before you get a concealed carry permit. Train with professionals who know the law and understand firearms use and operation." Jim C
"Just wanted to say thank you! It was a very good class filled with a LOT of information in a just a few hours. Your presentation was very clear and you kept it at a good pace. I do realize that there is a lot more to learn and with time I will. Your help with the application was greatly appreciated. When I submitted my application this week I did so with confidence knowing it was filled out correctly thanks to your help. It felt good going into the County Pistol Permit office knowing what to expect step by step. All went smoothly thanks to the information provided at the class. The price of the class was more than reasonable and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to take this first step toward applying, Thank you!" -Amy N
"I took your class last January and had recommended it many others after having spoken to several people who took this course from other providers, none were as complete as yours." -Chuck M
"I Loved the class! Was very nervous, since this was my first time holding a gun, hearing a gun being fired. By the end, I felt more comfortable. Pace of the class was good. The break was needed- just to relax. I think I could see myself taking it again. " - Patty F
"I was in your class last night and I must say you are an amazing teacher/trainer you explained things so they can be understood. This class is definitely needed and amazing and I'm thankful for all your knowledge." Brittany N
"Thank you once again for a great class. my wife and I really enjoyed it! As a former Army officer, I feel you did an outstanding job explaining gun safety especially reiterating the fact that you need to point the weapon downrange. From the perspective of an attorney, you were accurate and spot on with your explanation of the New York gun laws. You did a great job explaining that there are gray areas when it comes to self defense and Article 35. I am a member of the NRA and have about 15 years experience with gun and self defense cases." Frank
"I was required to re-take the course to apply for an another state permit. I have had my permit for many years now and have taken safety courses when I was young, I'm now 50 years old. You can't know enough about gun safety and if you learn one thing from that extra safety course it's a great thing and i learned numerous things. The instructor was great to listen and learn from so iI HIGHLY recommend this class to all. Thanks, Jim"
"I found the course to be very informative, very well planned out, and extremely helpful in providing answers to many questions that I had regarding the application process and gun safety. As mentioned, I have taken this course in the past. I have found your course to be superior to the previous course. What I enjoyed about the course was your organized presentation methods, the relevancy of the subject material, and the thorough explanation of the application and process. We stayed on course and didn't deviate much from the agenda (previous course allowed for distractions which lead to discussion of non relevant matter). I also enjoyed the fact that you kept the course very interesting. Not once did I feel bored or uninterested. The only minor negative aspect is that the course ran a little longer than I expected. But to be quite honest I didn't mind. I enjoyed all the information that was presented and I would definitely recommend your course to anyone. I will definitely consider Iron Sight for future courses and training."

" I have been hunting for many many years and have experience using long guns and rifles. I decided to finally take the leap into owning a pistol. I took my Pistol permit class with Iron Sight in June and was so impressed with the experience that I decided to take the "Basic Pistol Operation" class as well. As I reflect on my experience during the live fire class, I must say that the information, guidance and atmosphere were way above par. We covered everything from loading and unloading, sight alignment and target acquisition to trigger control and property clearing a jam. All the while, they conducted the class with extreme safety, humor, professionalism and understanding. I would say that this course is a MUST for ANY individual considering carrying or owning a firearm. I look forward to taking the Defensive Handgun and Low Light Skills classes in the future." - Jay F
"I recently took the Iron Sight's pistol operation training course for new and inexperienced gun owners. I have had my permit and my firearm for 2 years. I was afraid to try, afraid I would make a fool of myself, or even make a dangerous mistake...but I finally faced my fear and I am so glad I did. Jeremy was so very knowledgeable, reassuring and patient with me as well as each novice in the class. I learned so much about how to hold, load, unload, and fire my pistol safely and effectively. If we were doing something wrong, he saw and corrected it immediately in a kind and helpful manner. His attention to detail was outstanding. I now know that I can handle and use my pistol to keep my home and my family safe. We live in a harsh world, and need to be able to take care of ourselves and our families. If you are unsure and afraid , don't hesitate to take this class...Thank you, Jeremy and Iron Sight, for giving me the knowledge and the know-how to be a confident gun owner." - Ronna
"I am new to shooting and I have recently taken the Pistol Operation class. The instructors were knowledgeable, engaging and even entertaining. The Operation class gave me an excellent foundation, and I left with the comfort level to shoot independently on a range and to take more advanced classes. As a novice shooter I found the environment welcoming and not at all intimidating. In class safety was a focal point and never compromised. Now I am looking forward to taking more advanced classes!" -Joe D
"First and foremost, you are professional and kind, you get the point across without offending others in the class . I will continue taking classes from you and Iron Sight! I felt you were patient with out holding the class up because I was the only female in it. I know that may not be the way others see it. You had insight that some may struggle with loading of the magazine and I appreciated that knowledge by having equipment there to help us. Keep up the good work!" Sindee
"I was looking for a class that would help me understand the different safe steps to handling the weapon and I was VERY pleased with the information I received. I thought the price for the class was very fair for the instruction and shooting time we had. I did not feel rushed at all and I appreciated the extra time you gave our class!" - Brian R
"My husband and I enjoyed the class, We like how the class was set up in teams of two that way not everyone was shooting at once and it gave us a more one on one feeling. The small class size was a plus for us. Learning to properly hold the gun and hand placement was great. Pricing we feel was fair since you can't really put a price on safety. We would recommend this course to anyone thank you" - Vicky
I really enjoyed your class. I found it to be very informative, paced really well, covering the basics but still leaving enough time to practice those basics live. I definitely feel comfortable handling my pistol and look forward to getting to practice soon. The location was really convenient and the cost of the class I feel was very appropriate. My only concern is that I will forget something before I can get an opportunity to practice! Great job!' Jessica
"I did enjoy the course and I think it is a necessity for anyone planning on using a firearm as a hobby or for self-defense. The course increased my confidence in using my pistol safely and I feel ready to practice the skills taught in the course at a range. I especially liked the "manual of arms" drill method you used to have the students approach each shooting opportunity in the same, safe way. That sequence of pistol actions is well thought out and easy to practice on my own. The course was well worth the money and I look forward to taking additional courses from Iron Sights down the road." - Cary
"I took the pistol operation class and it was an excellent learning experience. The small class size made for a very personal experience. You were able to take your time with each of us and ensure we had a complete grasp of each technique before moving on. The venue was perfect and I hope to one day become a member there and put what I learned from you to good use. Your teaching technique was down to earth and easily understandable. I would and already have recommended Iron Sight to others to enhance their skill base. hope to see you soon for more training." - Kurt U
"The course, for me, was very helpful. I feel more comfortable with my pistol. The repetition for picking it up, clearing, preparing to fire and actually discharging the pistol was extremely helpful. I would recommend this course to any new pistol owner. Well worth the cost". -Sharron
"Having never fired a pistol and not having been at a firing range I did not know what to expect, meaning I was concerned for safety, and that I followed all rules as given. We had a group of 5 of us all go directions as a group, discussed safety how to's and was all very thorough. With him keeping a calm demeanor and taking his time I felt confident in his directions and that I would be fine while proceeding to fire my pistol. No one in the group in the instructor made you feel like you were asking a dumb question or demeaned anyone for any question the did answer. Overall the class is done in a comfortable pace so all parties are on the same page and informed before firing the pistol. Bill S
"Hey, I wanted to say the class was awesome, you kept it interesting, it was NOT a boring 3+ hours, it was very informative and fun! Great job, I will DEFINITELY be recommending YOUR class to anyone who is looking to get a pistol permit. Thanks again" - Jim M
"You have been extremely helpful and the class was great. You guys do an amazing job. I started shooting when i was 12, and gun my uncle made sure i knew gun safety before he even let me near a gun. I'm happy you guys bash that into people in the class, because some folks just don't get it. Thanks again for your help - Art"
