Advanced Range & Tactical Medicine
Firearms are wonderful tools for sport, defense or just for fun. You can learn how to use these machines and even master one in a short time because the way they work doesn't change. You pick your favorite tool based on consistency, reliability and how well you can manipulate it. You can plan and prepare for life but sometimes the day picks you, things happen out of your control and you find yourself in a quickly changing situation. If you've gone through the Concealed Carry Skills class you know this class deals with the decisions and actions you have to make to get through an attack or threat, find a legal path to safety and fast. Maybe you sustain a defensive wound while being attacked. How would you or your loved one get through that?
This course is geared towards conceal carry individuals but attendees are often a mix of concealed carry folks, sportsman, law enforcement, and heavy range users or range officers. We are offering this course to give you knowledge of the materials and actions you will need during or after critical defensive or range situation until professional help can arrive. The typical takeaway would be the knowledge of how to treat the most likely firearms related wounds while still defending yourself and others and what medical equipment you should have to be sufficient for the injuries you are likely to encounter.
Winning the fight is just the beginning; especially if you’ve sustained injuries. This course is specifically designed to teach the legally armed civilian or the armed professional, how to identify and treat immediate life-threatening injuries as a result of a violent attack. Most EMS agencies’ policies for responding to violent calls or events require all responding units to stage at a safe location, far enough away from danger so that the police can secure the scene first. During that time you will need to employ the tactical medical skills in order to increase your chances of survival. Throughout this course students will learn via hands-on skills practice, scenario-based training, educated consumers and allowed to create opinions on which medical gear best suits their needs.
Classes are typical held annually for those who have completed the Intro course, active or retired military, first responders, range officers or equivalent basic training. Don't forget to read the student feedback below, they can tell you better than us!

STUDENT FEEDBACK:
"As a licensed medical professional and responsible gun owner, I found the "Intro to Firearms & Range Med" to be exactly the course I was looking for, to both confirm and broaden my understanding of basic and quick emergency field techniques for addressing gunshot wounds. The instructor was exceptional and I came away with a much greater confidence in my ability to quickly implement the standard, simple, first-steps field approach to managing this type of potentially lethal injury. I would definitely and highly recommend this as a required, foundational safety course for anyone owning a gun. ~ Monica, Orchard Park, NY
"This course should be mandatory as part of any club membership. Even if you never need to use the skills, nor want to be that person with hands on the injured person, just having an awareness and knowing how to assist, make the 911 call or direct the EMS responders to the scene can help save a life. I plan to purchase some of the basic items for my vehicles, home and hunting pack, it just makes good sense. Your teaching style is easy, laid back and relatable" Melanie G
"The Intro to Range Med class was very informative and moved along at a good pace. The hands on simulation exercise at the end put all we learned into a practical application. As part of our class discussion we focused on an accident at the range, or hunting etc., where we had supplies ( bandages, tourniquet) to help the injured. I know that Hollywood has influenced people to think that they can use a belt as a tourniquet. We know that's not the case.

"I was quite impressed with this class and the instructional technique; I have taught critical situation skills (confined space entry and rescue, hazardous substance response, evacuation and fire safety trainer as well as OSHA 10 & 30 hr. Courses and safety compliance topics) in my career. Your instructional technique is excellent! You got the message across smoothly, concisely, and most important, it is retained! I learned a fair amount of fine points; the tourniquet, wound packing, how to notify 911 dispatch, the use of a chest seal; most importantly, my failure to properly assess and treat the victim in my practice scenario. Thanks for your efforts and knowledge sharing! Tom W
"I enjoyed the course and it met my expectations for a intro range 1st aid course. The information presented was very useful and I liked the demonstrations. In my opinion, it always best to learn by using "hands–on" applications. Great idea running it concurrently with another course where we were able to apply some of our training. Again, thanks for hosting and I'm looking forward to other courses with you guys. " Joe L
"I decided to take this class based on the facts that I do carry everyday and spend a lot of time shooting either at the range with others or myself. I realized that when something goes wrong I have to have some knowledge of how to help myself and others around me. This class was taught very well and hands on which is what someone like myself needs because I don't do it everyday. It had most basic lifesaving techniques that were easy to learn. The instructor was great and very personable also the hosting was good.i would like to have more hands on training in the future or additional classes offered to continue training." - Pat F
"Intro to Firearms and range medicine was held at a range so could not ask for a better location. The format and content gave you more than enough information. Course was very hands on, in that you got to see and use the equipment and apply it in a simulated situation. Since the instructor has no prior knowledge of people's experiences, I would say the pace was on target. The course was well worth the time and money and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys shooting." Jack & Dani D.
"Overall I was pleased with the Tac Med Class. Having taken a TECC Class recently it was nice to continue to build on the skills I learned and get in some practice. I also picked up a few new techniques which will be added to my "toolbox" - Jason
" Cost was reasonable. Came away with information on what types of equipment to purchase and from where. Outstanding course would recommend to others. " - Kevin
